Matthew Tallon, President

Matt Tallon serves as the vice chair of the Board of Library Trustees and served as an active member of the library construction committee which recently opened the new Tufts Library in Weymouth. Additionally, Matt is the president of the Idlewell Education & Improvement Association, a local civic organization in the town of Weymouth that advocates for continuous improvement. Matt has experience both in military leadership positions as well as urban public schools. For five years, he served as a logistics officer in the US Army spending most of that time stationed with overseas units in Germany and Korea in challenging assignments. Following his career in the Army, Matt was a public high school U.S. History and Civics teacher and currently serves as an Administrative Director at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Matt is a graduate of the master’s program in Education Policy and Management at Harvard and holds an undergraduate degree from Duke University in history. Matt is the co-author of 100 Days in Vietnam: A Memoir of Love, War, and Survival (Koehler Books, 2021), and he and his wife Lindsay share life and love with three young sons.
